In the second season, we will be focusing on new approaches to combatting the old and wicked corruption.
The host and author is Inna Nelles, an expert in strategic communications and advocacy. In each episode, Inna, together with her guests, will explore the most effective anti-corruption policies and why they work. The focus will be on the experience of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
We are starting with Ukraine, specifically with an experiment conducted by ACREC. Together with the guests Andrii Biletskyi, the Administrative Director of ACREC, and Roman Sheremeta, an economist and the founding director of the American University in Kyiv, who led the research group in this experiment, Inna will talk about the results of this experiment.
The experiment involved a group of students who were given a certain sum of money. All their actions with the funds were tracked, and the participants were aware of it. The observation aimed to understand how prohibitions and sanctions actually work in the fight against corruption.
Are corrupt individuals afraid of fines? Is a decent income a panacea against bribery? Why is it necessary to bring back online declarations? Which institution will provide the most effective way to combat corruption? What is anti-corruption culture, and how can it be implemented in Ukraine?
