The fight against corruption is a never-ending task, which is why ACREC’s educational efforts are continuous and tireless.
In the hottest days of July 2023, Ukrainian experts conducted a unique four-day intensive training on corruption prevention in infrastructure for the anti-corruption delegates of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. Created by the Ant-Corruption Research & Education Center at NaUKMA in collaboration with the “Innovations for Successful Societies” program at Princeton University, this course covered:
- International standards for assessing corruption risks
- Corruption prevention in the reconstruction processes of Ukraine
- Types of corruption in contractor selection
- Corruption prevention programs in the private sector
Richard Messick, an international anti-corruption consultant, took a role of the course lecturer. The event also invited a special guest — Hemish Goldie-Scott, a technical advisor from CoST — who spoke about the Construction Sector Transparency Initiative (CoST).
Thanks to this course, the anti-corruption delegates acquired knowledge and skills to implement infrastructure projects in the reconstruction and recovery process of the country. During the intensive, officials learned about the principles of good governance, transparency, and accountability, as well as ways to implement the Ministry’s Anti-Corruption Delegate Professional Development Strategy.
